Retro Movie Review, Scarface

Wow. If I have ever learned a message from a movie then I surely learned one from Scarface.
1. Do not do mountains of cocaine.
2. Do not cross a drug lord in another country. (you might get a way with it if the drug lord is local)
3. Italians look just like Cubans.

I can see how Scarface is an iconic film. At the time I bet this movie blew people away. Now, eh... the movie isn't so relevant. Maybe it kinda is since drugs are still around and I presume drug trafficking, but my favorite drug trafficking movie is Traffic. Wow, if you haven't seen Traffic then this is one to see. Wait... is it weird that I actually have a 'favorite' drug trafficking movie??? Anyways, that's beside the point.
Scarface was alright but it got really slow at some points. I had to watch some scenes in FF. I did enjoy the classic, "Say Hello to my little friend" scene. The downside to watching the movie is now Jesse is talking like Tony Montana around the house. Yeah, that's not annoying...
Overall, I would give Scarface 2.5 Quaaludes out of 5.

Tropic Thunder, 4 VietcongS out of 5

It took me a while to see Tropic Thunder because I have been busy these past two weekends. I had intended on seeing the movie when it first came out so, I finally made it to the theater this weekend. The movie was awesome. It was funny and it delivered constant comedy throughout with a couple of slow/lame moments. That's pretty good for a comedy since a lot only have sporadic moments of truly funny scenes. Tropic Thunder really packed a punch and Robert Downey Jr. stole the movie. RDJ was so awesomely funny that I hope to see him in another comedy. Jack Black and Ben Stiller may be the actual 'comedians' but RDJ outshone the 2 of them. (Outshone sounds weird, is that a word?)
Anyhow, I highly recommend seeing this one. Leave the kids at home and get ready to laugh. Also, get to the movie early so you don't miss the previews. The previews were great.

Pineapple Express, 3.5 Bong Hits out of 5

I was pleased with Pineapple Express. I thought it was very funny and a couple of moments were laugh out loud funny. However, when I compare the flick to other Seth Rogen/ Judd Apatow flicks, it doesn't quite measure up. This movie is not the quintessential stoner movie but it does deserve a spot in the top ten. My favorite stoner films are Friday, Up in Smoke, the first Whitecastle movie and Dazed & Confused.
The hardest part about watching Pineapple Express was to see James Franco look like a dirty pot-smoking hippie instead of his usual good looking self! But that aside, this movie does have Mellybutton approval and is a great Saturday afternoon flick. Bring your refillable popcorn bucket in case you get the munchies :P

Honda Clarity, Hydrogen Car of the Future!

Jamie Lee Curtis is driving one awesome car. Honda has released a limited number of ZERO EMISSIONS vehicles in Southern Cali and JLC got one. The cars run off and Hydrogen combined with a fuel cell and they emit only water vapor- how effin' cool is that!? The car looks good too.
If this car was available would you buy one?
Wouldn't it be awesome to not have to fill up on Gas but instead to fill up on Hydrogen (which is the most abundant element in the world, unlike petroleum)

A Real Guitar Hero

I might be able to beat Gutiar Hero III on Easy mode- but this kid can play for real. Meet my new guitar hero,

Tallan 'T-Man' Latz performs Monday, June 30, 2008, at Summerfest in Milwaukee. A blues guitar prodigy, the 8-year-old has played in bars and clubs, including the House of Blues in Chicago, and even jammed with Les Paul and Jackson Browne. However, the state of Wisconsin says that Tallan cannot play in taverns and nightclubs because of state child labor laws

Why can't politicians keep it in their pants?

Lost fans- find the Easter egg in the article!!

Former presidential candidate John Edwards, who won praise and sympathy as he campaigned side-by-side with his cancer-stricken wife, Elizabeth, admitted Friday he had had an extramarital affair with a woman who produced videos for his campaign. Edwards acknowledged a sex scandal he had dismissed as "tabloid trash" only last month. However, he denied fathering the woman's daughter, who was born in February.
The former North Carolina senator, who was the Democratic vice presidential nominee in 2004, confessed to ABC News that he had lied repeatedly about the affair with 42-year-old Rielle Hunter. He said he had not taken a paternity test but knows he isn't the father because of the timing of the affair and the birth. A former Edwards campaign staffer says he is the father.
Hunter's daughter, Frances Quinn Hunter, was born on Feb. 27 this year, and no father's name is given on the birth certificate filed in California.
The National Enquirer first reported on the affair in October 2007, in the runup to the Democratic primaries, and Edwards denied it.
"The story is false," he told reporters then. "It's completely untrue, ridiculous." He professed his love for his wife, who had an incurable form of cancer, saying, "I've been in love with the same woman for 30-plus years and as anybody who's been around us knows, she's an extraordinary human being, warm, loving, beautiful, sexy and as good a person as I have ever known. So the story's just false."
Last month, the Enquirer carried another story stating that its reporters had accosted Edwards in a Los Angeles hotel where he had met with Hunter after her child's birth. Edwards called it "tabloid trash," but he generally avoided reporters' inquiries, as did his former top aides.
In an interview, scheduled to air on ABC News' "Nightline" Friday night, Edwards said the tabloid was correct when it reported on his meeting with Hunter at the Beverly Hills Hilton last month.
He placed second in the Iowa caucuses last January but dropped out of the 2008 race a few weeks later. He has been mentioned as a possible vice presidential choice for Barack Obama.
The Edwardses have three children — Cate, Jack and Emma Claire.
